About the Doctor

Mr. Rupert Indar Jr. is a native of Trinidad and Tobago. Having lived in the United Kingdom for 20 years, he graduated from the University of London, the Barts and the London Hospitals in 1994. He went on to complete his internship in 1995 and started basic surgical training in 1996 after gaining the primary of the FRCS examination.

After passing the FRCS training in 1999, he started higher surgical training and was very fortunate to work at some major centres in the United Kingdom including The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital- Stanmore, the Royal London Hospital, The Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, St. George’s Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital.

Having had a great background in training in joint replacement, arthroscopies and trauma, following his F.R.C.S. Trauma and Orthopaedic, in 2006 went on to challenge himself to be cross trained in spinal surgery.

Currently, he is the only Orthopaedic surgeon in Trinidad who has this training and has completed a Fellowship in Spinal Surgery at the famous Sunnybrook Hospital, University of Toronto.

He has been back in Trinidad for over 7 years and has performed over 200 microscopic discectomies and many other cases through minimally invasive approaches. He is also an active Consultant in the Public Service at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex and is actively involved in the Caribbean Neurosciences group as well as the Caribbean Orthopaedic group.
